US Marine Corps: Head Lifeguard Marc Walker of Reno

While serving at Marine Corps Air Station in Iwakuni, Japan, Marc Walker of Reno was given a temporary duty assignment under the aquatics division for the Department of Morale, Welfare, and Recreation. This meant that he was the head lifeguard and assisted the aquatics supervisor with supervision and management of two large pools and an Olympic-sized indoor aquatic facility.

It was through this job that Marc Walker of Reno first got interested in managing recreational facilities. Marc Walker of Reno would later go on to attain a Bachelor of Science from the College of Health and Human Services at California State University-Sacramento in Recreation Administration with a concentration in Recreation and Park Management. From this degree he would continue on to become a Park Ranger at the Mendocino Lake Reservoir and Recreation Areas for a time. It is doubtless that his assignment under the aquatics division for the Department of Morale, Welfare, and Recreation spurred his interest in becoming a Park Ranger.

Responsibilities that Marc Walker of Reno took on during his time under the aquatics division for the Department of Morale, Welfare, and Recreation include keeping the facilities clean, opening and closing the facilities, and administering first aid and CPR as necessary.

Marc Walker of Reno also believes that fitness is very important, so administering to fitness facilities gives him a deep sense of satisfaction and pleasure. Marc Walker of Reno also participates in half-marathons and endurance races. Working with the equipment and facilities that give people the ability to learn how to love working out as much as he does makes Marc Walker of Reno very happy. He is pleased to have served his country in the US Marine Corps and to have helped his fellow soldiers in workouts and recreation. He still enjoys working out and coordinating activities in his free time to this very day.
